"Food grade" cosmetics are misleading to consumers
Recently, the regulations on the supervision and administration of children's cosmetics issued by the State Food and drug administration clearly stipulates that children's cosmetics labels shall not be marked with words such as "food grade", "edible" or food related patterns. Here, remind consumers to pay attention to the following points:
1、 There are no "food grade" cosmetics
Some cosmetics manufacturers use some raw materials that can be used to produce "food" in the production of cosmetics. Therefore, some businesses take the opportunity to call such cosmetics "food grade" cosmetics to show that the cosmetics they sell are safer, especially to suggest that parents are safer to use such cosmetics for children, and children have no risk even if they eat them.
In fact, cosmetics and food are two different categories of products. According to different laws and regulations, different product standards, raw material requirements and production conditions are applicable. There is no so-called "food grade" cosmetics at all.
2、 The safety of cosmetics has nothing to do with "edible"
To uate the safety of a cosmetic, it is necessary to uate the safety of its raw materials, as well as its product formula, production process, mode of use, storage conditions, etc. The safety of cosmetics has nothing to do with whether it is "edible".
Even if some businesses use some raw materials that can be used to produce "food" to produce cosmetics, it does not mean that the cosmetics produced are safe. For "food" raw materials not included in the catalogue of used raw materials for cosmetics, if they want to be added to cosmetics as raw materials, toxicological uation shall also be conducted on their skin irritation, skin sensitization, phototoxicity and photosensitivity. If they are considered safe after comprehensive uation, and after registration or filing of new cosmetic raw materials by the State Food and drug administration, Can be used as cosmetic raw materials. In addition, according to the safety technical specifications for cosmetics, some edible or widely existing substances in food are included as prohibited raw materials for cosmetics, and are prohibited to be added to cosmetics, such as konjac, vitamin k-1, etc.
3、 There are safety risks in eating cosmetics by mistake
According to the regulations on the supervision and administration of cosmetics, cosmetics are daily chemical industrial products applied to the surface of human body such as skin, hair, nails, lips and so on by "wiping, spraying or other similar methods". Therefore, cosmetics are not products designed for consumption. In cosmetics daily use, such as occasionally taking a small amount of cosmetics from lips, such as lipstick and lipstick entrance, do not worry too much, because this intake is small and is still within the scope of safety. However, if children mistake cosmetics for food and take a large amount of them on their own initiative, it may lead to health risks. If there are discomfort symptoms, they should seek medical treatment in time.
According to the regulations on the supervision and administration of cosmetics, it is prohibited to label cosmetics with "false or misleading contents". The label of cosmetics claims "food grade" and "edible", which violates the laws and regulations on the management of cosmetics labels and should be prohibited.
